Denise Hillman Moynahan graduated from the Rhode Island
School of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration Design. She
ran DM Studio for many years illustrating educational materials, designing
and constructing displays for special events, and creating art works for
medical offices. She also wrote and marketed "Green Screen Stories", a
series of children's stories for the early IBM computers.
In 1984 Denise joined the Central Intelligence
Agency as a Visual Information Specialist and retired in 1999 as Chief of
the Visual Information Staff in the Office of the Deputy Director for
Science and Technology.
She studied with the Institute of Children's
Literature, is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and
Illustrators, the Maryland Writers' Association, the Garrett County Arts
Council, and the American
Association of University Women.
Denise and her husband presently live in a
geodesic dome on top of Backbone Mountain in Garrett County, Maryland, where
she continues to write and illustrate children's books, including one for
each of her ten grandchildren.
